About Us
University Math Society consists of a group of students with a shared passion for mathematics. Our mission is the following:
- Being awesome: Our faculty adviser is none other than the genius Dr. Sergei Shabanov
- Networking: A place for math scholars and others alike to get to know each other and form strong bonds of friendship over the years.
- Intellectual enhancement: A society that promotes and holds weekly math seminars as ways of constantly bettering our mathematics for purposes such as the Putnam math competition and the sorts.
- Hosting Math Competitions:
a) Mu Alpha Theta March Invitational – Soon to be requested.
b) UF’s own high school mathematics competition
c) UF’s first Integration Bee – A competition among UF mathematicians to determine who is the best at solving complex integrals (a competition held at many colleges, including MIT) - Community Service: A society that gives back to the community in a variety of ways, with a focus in mathematics.
