Sophia Makemson - President
Sophia is an economics and mathematics double major in her third year at UF. After one year serving as Treasurer to the University Math Society, she is even more excited to serve as President! She enjoys making funny faces at the camera, feminist rants, and swing dancing. She also spends an inordinate time on tumblr. Sophia got into math when she started taking classes at UF and attending UMS Math Talks. If you want to get involved in UMS or just make a new friend, don't hesitate to introduce yourself to her!
Colin Defant - Vice President
Colin is in the UF class of 2017 and is a mathematics major and physics minor. He became interested in math when he began studying for the DUKE TIP in 7th grade. His hobbies are doing math (especially number theory), making and editing electronic music, going to Taco Bell with his friends and twin brother, and pole vaulting. One interesting thing about Colin is that he is a 7th-generation Floridian and 5th-generation Gator.
Diego Rojas - Treasurer
Diego is a sophomore working towards a double major in mathematics and physics with a minor in statistics. Diego got into math after joining Mu Alpha Theta in high school and decided to pursue an academic career in math after his freshman year in college. His hobbies include singing, playing viola, and writing poetry. Diego speaks 4 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French) and is learning 4 more (German, Russian, Japanese, and Korean)!
Natalie Foster - Historian/Secretary
Natalie is a fourth year student pursuing a double major in astronomy and physics. Her love for mathematics was kindled in high school while participating in Mu Alpha Theta and taking AP Calculus AB/BC with an exceptional teacher. Her hobbies include wandering around, running, eating, and learning new languages. Something interesting about Natalie is that she has the Second Fundamental Theorem of Calculus tattooed to her arm.
Bryan Blette - Webmaster
Bryan is a junior at UF double majoring in mathematics and statistics and minoring in entrepreneurship. Bryan competed in mathematics in high school as a member of Mu Alpha Theta. He enjoys watching TV, playing video games, watching sports, and travelling. Something interesting about him is that he is studying abroad in Florence, Italy this summer.
Tom Beasley - Lead Director of Intellectual Activities
Tom is a sophomore mathematics major at UF. His older brothers were Mathletes, and he grew up watching them travel to competitions and bring back huge trophies. From then on he knew that he wanted to learn as much about math as he could and follow in his brothers' footsteps. His interests include video games, sports, astronomy, and cars.
Corey Wolfe - Lead Director of Community Outreach
Corey is a junior majoring in mathematics and minoring in computer science. She became interested in applied math when she was on her high school's robotics team, but it wasn't until college that she wrote her first proof and fell in love. Her hobbies include travel, swimming, and exploring local coffee shops, and she helped break the world record for highest altitude wind turbine.
